The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers’ (FLETC) Assistant Director for National Capital Region Training Operation Directorate visits ILEA Gaborone.
This week we were honored to be visited by FLETC’s Assistant Director for National Capital Region Training Operation Directorate Mark A. Adamchik. AD Adamchik serves as a senior executive for FLETC in Washington D.C. The national Capital Region directorate consults and coordinates on matters pertaining to the Office of the Secretary, develops FLETC strategy, and determines policy positions on legislative matters to the Department, Congress, and other law enforcement partners. AD Adamchik also provides executive leadership for FLETC’s training delivery point in Cheltenham, Maryland as well as the International Training Division. AD Adamchik was part of the course open for the Leadership for Women in the Criminal Justice Sector.
He emphasized the importance of forging new relationships because criminals do not have borders and international police cooperation is one of the easiest ways to curb transnational crimes. He also underscored that learning is a two-way street for both the ILEA participants and instructor cadre. You will learn from each other, stated Adamchik. The FLETC Assistant Director also related that this course is near and dear to his heart, as his wife is also a law enforcement leader. Further, AD Adamchik stated that this course will establish both challenges and success stories the 45 female participants undergo. The Leadership for Women in the Criminal Justice Sector course, facilitated by the U.S. Secret Service and FBI, develops leadership skills, improves resiliency, and fosters understanding about challenges a female law enforcement officer may encounter.
