Sexual Gender Based Violence Course and Anti Corruption Workshop

Today we welcomed our first participants of 2023!  They comprised two courses from partner nations of Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Liberia, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa and Uganda for the Sexual Gender Based Violence Course.  This course addresses social, legal and cultural aspects of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). In addition to deepening participants' understanding of the societal, legal, and practical barriers faced by survivors following an incident of SGBV and human rights atrocities. Additionally, the course will teach a number of practical skills to improve participants' capacity to investigate SGBV and to communicate effectively with victims and other witnesses.an 

We also welcome participants from our partner nations of South Africa, Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Mauritius, Sychelles and Botswana for the Anti-Corruption Regional workshop.  This anti-corruption course will focus on the investigation and prosecution of complex corruption cases. The target audience will be prosecutors and judges who have brought cases against mid to high level figures engaged in grand corruption schemes in their respective countries. The course is designed to afford an interactive forum on a range of topics to include international standards in the fight against corruption; corruption and fraud schemes in areas such as healthcare and the justice sector (sharing of experiences/case studies); tools in the fight against corruption, including criminal versus civil enforcement; encouraging the reporting of corruption crimes; effective use of cooperators and informants; developing a cooperative relationship between prosecutor and investigator; the challenges of collecting evidence, especially from overseas financial institutions; and the organization and presentation of complex cases in court; combating corruption through asset recovery (theory and practice).
